Do they come in a blue?? Have a pic, I searched the web nothing??
Does any know flowers well, love the cornflowers??
Here's a photo and some information. Where I come from, we call them Bachelor's Buttons - I grow them in our flowerbed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornflower
Reply:No--but you can use hydrangeas for the blue and purpley blues like bachelor buttons.
Reply:you might be able to put white ones in a vase with a heavy concentration of blue dye/food coloring and they should drink it up and turn blue...
i've done this with other flowers, never a cornflower.
so make sure to try plenty a head of time.
good luck

Well there is your answer.
Reply:No, they do not come in a blue. Unless you can find them in silk? But I doubt it.

Wedding colors?
I am getting married in an outdoor garden wedding in June. My bouquet and flowers at my alter will be a mix of blue hydrangaes with small pink, white and maroon flowers with some grass. My bridesmaid dress is cornflower and the best man will be wearing taupe pants a cornflower blue shirt and a striped tie with blue and green and white. I am wondering if this is going to be too much blue condering my best man will not be in a jacket. cornflower is a softer blue but i am worried. the groom will be in the exact same tie and shirt but he will be in a taupe suit. i worry that if i change the best man to a white shirt it will look out of place since only his tie will be the same and he will only have the same shade of pants as my fiance. i really don't want to take the groom out of the blue shirt because it looks great with the suit and great on him. so is it going to be too much blue and if so, will it look like crap to change the best man to white?
Wedding colors?
I'm a wedding photographer and I specialize in outdoor weddings. Stay away from the white shirt or it will draw attention (stand out). Having more of the same is much better than several different. I think it sounds real good the way you have it. If you have hired a professional photographer this is something they can help you with. But the rule is-only the bride should stand out. If you haven't set the time of day yet, the best is morning or late afternoon sun. Stay away from 11pm-4pm sun-it is very harsh or if you will be doing it between those times have a place in the garden that is shaded for pictures. congratulations.
Reply:no, as long as the groom is wearing a jacket over his blue shirt, it won't be too much blue. maybe have the BM gown altered to tea length instead of a big blue full length gown.
Reply:Leave the blue shirt...the white would look out of place...go with your first instincts...and remember it' YOUR wedding..as long as you are happy you don't have to worry about what your guests think...all eyes will be on you anyway. Good Luck
Reply:Don't worry so much. Enjoy this time of planning and ex specially your wedding day. Things will not go exactly as planed but they will go to fast. Soak up every minute sharing this time with family and friends. Congratulations!

I transplanted some bachelor button(cornflowers) i grew them by seed?
any special care to get them to really flower?
I transplanted some bachelor button(cornflowers) i grew them by seed?
Centaurea cyanus, Cornflower or Bachelor Buttons flower and standup best in lean, dry soil. They like full sun. In a rich, fertile and moist soil they will flop over.
Reply:Those are 2 different plants. No hints. Just water when necessary.

Anybody grown cornflowers (Pink, blue, white, purple) in there garden?
I have grown some Cornflowers from seed in little pots. They grew to about 2 inches so I planted them into the flower beds in our garden. Since I have planted them the leaves have turned all dark purple, Is this normal or does this mean they are dead now?
Please advise as never grown anything from seeds before.
PS - We are in Southern Turkey so its warm enough for them and they are getting enough water every evening so cant see what im doing wrong?
Anybody grown cornflowers (Pink, blue, white, purple) in there garden?
To me you have done the right things the plants like a light alkaline soil feed with a water soluble fertiliser
they usually like full or partial sun unless they are the button variety then they should be protected from the hot sun.I have grown these Flowers and had no problem but as you are not in the UK it's a bit more tricky to say, I would suggest a soil testing kit to test you soil the only oother thing I can think of at ther moment is wind damage, or perhaps you put them into the garden without hardening them off. another thing that comes to mind they normally like to be in a tight bunch, I suppose they will get support and a bit more protection from the weather, For the time being I would try a sprinkle of plant food suitable for the cornflower if you have a garden centre
So sorry I can't help more but good luck and keep trying., don't give up
Reply:They might have a little shock from the transplant. Don't do anything too much. Maybe a little more shade, put a pot of something taller near it to give it shade. Cone flower thrives on neglect, sun, poor soil, drought. Good luck!
Reply:mybe its the soil i have grown them many a time
Reply:check your soil to see if it o k for them
Reply:Hi!! might be too much water. There could be many reasons. Try digging some kitchen waste into some earth in a different spot and then plant some more. Compost from the waste encourages worms and they in turn aerate the ground. Keep trying that`s what gardeners have to do all the time.
Reply:They don't like being disturbed. Just get another couple of packets of seeds and sow direct into a raked border and they will be fine - they self seed too. I have grown the blue, pink and white! Good luck :-)

Can I brew coffee on my electric stove using the corning blue cornflower coffee pot. Or only on gas stove?
They make a wire that you an put on the burner of an electric stove so that the pot won't be touching the burner directly. They make defusers with a handle that you can use as well. They look like a round flat steamer...you can get them in Bed, Bath and Beyond or linens and things.
Can I brew coffee on my electric stove using the corning blue cornflower coffee pot. Or only on gas stove?
Corningware is similar to Pyrex and should be safe on an electric stove. My experience, however is that the integrity of the pot loses it's durability over time. Electric stoves are hotter and more direct heat than gas, so I guess what I'm saying here, is I wouldn't trust it....
Reply:Yes, but you need a metal ring to sit atop the electric burner. One is usually supplied with the pot.

Which color(s) and what kind of flowers look best with cornflower blue bridesmaids' dresses?
I think bright yellow with hints of pinks and blue would be nice. Yellow-complimentary color to blue on color wheel, roses, daffodils
Pink-Always looks nice for weddings, little flowers, the florist should be able to help
Blue-To match the dresses, little flowers again, the florist should be able to help as well.
Good luck!!

Reply:Beyond the obvious blue cornflowers, my best guess is to consult a real professional : your trusty color wheel.
Reply:Gerbera daisies in dusty red, pink, orange, yellow - such pretty colours.
Reply:Actually, that would be a nice color to do a mixed wild flower bouquet with.. purples, blues, greens, yellows, berries..
If youre looking for something more solid, maybe a deep orange .
Reply:I am doing a tropic blue in my wedding, and I am using shades of pink, blue, and yellow in my flowers. I am using gerber daisies..they are gorgeous..and can be dyed to practically any color!

Or settle for white.
Reply:Anything yellow looks great with blue.
Reply:Cream flowers would look very classic. If you wanted to be a little more daring you could do more color like pinks or corals. Here are some roses you could check out (b/c you can get roses in just about any color you can think of) Aqua, Camilla, Hot Chocolate, Kentucky, Sari, Rustique, Sahara, Pink Osiana, Titanic, Vivaldi just to name a few that would work depending on your style. I like the red tulip with white tips.

Maybe I am crazy, but I think that you can go with red flowers, orange flowers, soft yellow flowers, blue flowers, white flowers, even pink. I would stay away from peach, green (unless it is a light green, maybe tropical), lavendar or any loud yellow colors.
Reply:An ivory would look beautiful. Or if you want something a little more exotic, try a light/lime green.
Reply:Actually, I don't think that flowers "clash" with anything. I'd suggest going to the florist that you intend to buy from, and ask for some ideas from them. I'll bet they have lots of good ideas.

Does anyone have a chiffon, long, cornflower blue bridesmaid dress from David's Bridal for sale?
Check eBay. They often have off-season gowns for straight sale. Describe it in Search exactly the way you did here. Or contact the sellers of similar gowns directly. They may have stock available.
Reply:I work at David's Bridal. Did you go to your nearest store and see if they have one on the rack? You can buy their dresses right off the rack. If you already did that, than I suggest you start calling other David's by you in order to find one. You will NEVER be able to order one if you are needing it in 2 weeks
Reply:Go to 1luckybride.com and email them a picture of it. They say they can make any dress and the size you need it and have it shipped in about 5-7 days. They are super nice and I am going to go through them to order my dress. They are a manufacturer and in China. Good Luck.

What frame colors go best with cornflower blue wall?
Pale yellow
Reply:White, cream, pale yellow, light wood. Depends on the furniture %26amp; accessories in the room.
Reply:It's difficult to really suggest a color that would go well with cornflower blue for several reasons...
What type of room is it? Living area, bedroom, bath, etc;
What schemes of colors really speak to your soul? Cool colors (blues and whites, etc); Warm colors (blues and golds, etc.)
So here are a couple of websites that you might explore...and a quote from the Behr site:
"A monochromatic scheme (one color, but in many shades and different hues, from dark to light), is harmonious and flows well.
"An analogous scheme (using the adjacent colors on the color wheel), gives you the opportunity for more exciting highlights.
"A complementary scheme (using the colors opposite each other on the color wheel) allows more flexibility for accent and highlight colors, but must be carefully managed so it’s not jarring."
Here's a site that will let you use an interactive planner to actually preview the results of your choice... http://www.behr.com/behrx/workbook/
And this site is just fun. http://www.livingyourcolors.com/home.htm...

What color flowers would match cornflower blue bridesmaid dresses?
My bridesmaids dresses are cornflower blue as well. I am using the color scheme of cornflower blue, butter yellow and pale light green. The bridesmaids bouquets consist of light blue hydrangea, creamy yellow stock and green hypericum berries. My maid of honor has white hydrangea with light blue delphinium and green hypericum berries.
If you like the blue/green/yellow color scheme here are some more flowers to consider;
Blue:
blue-purple grape hyacinths
Blue - sprayed roses
Blue - sprayed carnations
Dusty Miller
Pale/Butter Yellow:
Ranunculus
Snapdragon
Stock
Rose
Green:
Gladiolus
Lime green (Kermit) Mums
Hydrangea
Cymbidium Orchid
You can also consult a florist and he/she can give you suggestions based up on the season and your budget.

Reply:Depends on your style and the effect you want. Yellow or Pink will have a shocking, yet pleasant effect. If you like it low-key, white is always a great standby, because it creates a mono-chromtic (one color) theme. I love weddings where color is explosive...you'll see this in the latin cultures and in african cultures...it really looks like a celebration.
Reply:Try 3 White Calla Lilly... goes beautiful with any color dress... plus it's cute...
Reply:there is a flower called Scabiosa or Love in a Mist with that exact cornflower blue your dress!!! You could mix it with some white hydrangea....or if you want a bright and bold look dark purple hydrangea and then a few lavender flowers to accent the Scabiosa (that look is really in)
Reply:flowers are like accesories to your dresses, not needed to match but to compliment
ask your florist to show you a combination of purple, deep pink and blue flowers
Reply:Yellow roses would be pretty. Or you could do a peach colored rose. If you aren't a fan of roses, lilles, daffodils, lily of the valley, sunflowers, daisies...all would be pretty. Check out www.theknot.com for some pictures. You can also check out some flower websites that give you pictures of the flowers and the meaning behind them. Good luck!

Reply:yellow or white would look pretty.
Reply:This was the color for My best friend swedding and we carried Blue and white Hydrangeas (sp?). Maybe you would like those?
Reply:i think white would be pretty and innocent. nice for a wedding. not too loud
Reply:Yellow and white mix Yellow roses with white daisy and baby breaths
Reply:yellow or pink or white would be pretty
Good luck!
Reply:you could use daffodils in a buttercup yellow, cream colored roses, calla lilies, or any other lily mixed with the daffodils and maybe some tulips, creamy carnations tipped in the blue of your dresses (they basically dip the tips in dye to match the dresses or color scheme), daisies, pink white and yellow tulips
here are some photos of some of the flowers:

Whats the difference between cornflower and corn starch? what are their hindi names?
If you mean cornflour and corn starch, they're pretty much the same. Corn starch/flour is very refined so there's absolutely no fiber or other husk remnant, used as a thickener for different foods.
Not sure about their Hindi names but I've seen "Cornflour" used in India while in the US "Corn Starch" is more common. They're the same, and usually sold in small quantities because the starch is used only a spoon at a time in most recipes, unlike wheat flour or some other flour that is the basis of many foods (e.g bread)
Corn meal is of course very different and is made up of dried corn, ground to a coarser powder (than starch)
Whats the difference between cornflower and corn starch? what are their hindi names?
Both flour and cornstarch use the carbohydrate, starch, to thicken sauces. Mixed with cold liquid, starch isn't too thrilling. But add a little heat to the mix and the individual starch granules get to work, absorbing liquid and swelling. By the time the mixture nears boiling, the starch granules will have grown to about ten times their size at room temperature. These swollen starch granules form a thick but tender matrix, which thickens even more as it cools.
Although both flour and cornstarch owe their thickening powers to starch, cornstarch is pure starch, while flour contains starch plus protein. What difference does a little protein make?
Protein takes up volume but contributes little to the thickening power of flour. So, you need about twice as much flour as cornstarch to thicken a sauce. That means flour could be more likely to add an undesirable pasty flavor. And while pure starch becomes transparent as it swells with liquid, the protein in flour reflects light, making a sauce look cloudy. Cloudy, velvet-textured gravy can be delicious, but cornstarch is used more often to thicken fruit pie fillings, creating the gem-like transparency around the fruit.

I have a cornflower (greyish bluish) couch- what color can i paint the walls?
I am going for a sophisticated, sleek look. the coffee table is antique black wood.
I have a cornflower (greyish bluish) couch- what color can i paint the walls?
How about a nice deep burgundy feature wall, and the rest a light taupe/cool beige? will keep the room light and not too dreary but still have that striking effect.
Reply:That's difficult to say but gols or tan would look good. Have you considered buying a couch cover so you could do whatever you wanted?
Reply:I WOULD GO WITH A CREAMY VANILLA COLOR-I TYPE BIG SO I CAN SEE BETTER, I'M NOT YELLING
Reply:Chocolate brown looks great with blue upholstery and black case pieces. If that is too dark for you try a lighter taupe or tan color. This is a great color scheme that is really hot right now. A nice gold tone makes a great accent color for pillows, etc.
Reply:A very soft grey would be good ! But go to the store - get several bottles of different grey ( in the craft dept a little bottle costs about 99 cents) paint onto a few pieces of card bord or paper and thumb tack to wall behind sofa - leave it for a few days until you see which shade suits you best - a good way to pick a color without painting a whole wall

Why does cornflower mixed with water turn solid when it's kept moving and go liquid when it's sitll?
because when it moves to fast the starch molecules all lock up, because of their jagged shape, but when nothing is forcing them they can keep their distance from one another and just slide across each other
Why does cornflower mixed with water turn solid when it's kept moving and go liquid when it's sitll?
The viscosity of a liquid (how thick or pourable it is) can depend on many things.
When you apply a force along the surface of a liquid (a shear force), the molecules move. How much they move depends on the type of liquid. Some liquid such as cornflour and water mixture.....or those trays of solid paint are referred to as 'shear thinning'. This means that as you increase the shear force e.g. by stirring, or applying it to a roller, the liquid 'thins' or becomes more viscous. Other liquids have different behaviour. Take water as an example the viscosity will not vart significantly with the shear stresses applied, this type of liquid is refferd to as 'Newtonian'. There is a 3rd group which exhibit a different behaviour called Bingham plastics I think (but I can not remember very much about these).
Reply:it's known as a non-newtonion liquid, which is a fluid in which the viscosity changes with the applied strain rate.
In the case of cornflower it is due to the large amount of starch and the interactions the occurs with the solution.

Chocolate or cornflower blue zip UGGs?
Or what's the best color UGGs that goes with most outfits? I am open to your opinions.
I understand not everyone may not like UGGs here and I respect that. To each their own. I, however, will not be listening to the "don't get them", "they are so UGGly" etc. responses.
Chocolate or cornflower blue zip UGGs?
Chocolate, more versatile. The cornflower blue is a little too hannah montana.
Reply:choclate matches more
Reply:yeah, i don't like uggs, but i agree with the person above. BY the way, BeatlesFanatic I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
